Having a private space where I can take a collector’s tattoos to the next level has been an absolute dream come true. Here we are, tucked away in our very own tattoo oasis completely enclosed in a comfortable little shell, away from the traffic and the noise and the hustle and bustle of a typical street shop where the only thing that gets our attention is the thing that deserves it the most, your tattoo.

Whether a client wants a small, 15 minute piece or large and involved, multiple session artworks, I treat it as if it’s the last tattoo that I’ll ever touch and that this tattoo will be the best tattoo I’ve ever been a part of.

We can listen to music or turn on a DVD to help pass time or the collector may want to read a book in silence. It’s YOUR time and I want it to be as fulfilling as possible so I make certain that my clients are as pampered as I possibly can make them. The candles are lit, the shop is clean and welcoming.

Pricing

I tattoo by appointment only. Prices vary depending on the situation. I can better answer price questions during your consultation. I have a $50 minimum for small stuff. If we are doing larger pieces I have hourly rates ranging between $100 per hour and $250 an hour. Some variables that effect the hourly rates are subject matter (for instance. I may charge more for certain styles like tribal or Celtic based on the difficulty or tedium involved in the piece), also if you would like to book me outside of my normal hours (early in the morning, late at night or on my "days off") I would charge higher rate based on the severity of the circumstances. I am working privately, by appointment specifically so that I can take time to create the most amazing tattoo for every customer and take their tattoo to the next level. whether they want a small, simple piece or a full body suit. Tattooing is permanent and shouldn't be cranked out hastily as happens in most walk-in shops. I consider Tattooing to be one of thehighest form of visual art and art of that level shouldn't be entered into lightly on a whim.

I tattoo 18 and up with valid State I.D.

No drunks.

No checks.

I will allow children, spouses and other visitors to accompany the client for moral support but if you are bringing more than one guest it must be cleared with me in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is the new shop located?

A: First, it's not a "shop" it's a private studio. A "shop" has walk-in clientele and I do not. The studio is located at 72 N. Dixie Dr. in Vandalia, Ohio, in a nice strip of houses and commercial buildings near the intersection of W. National Rd (Rt. 40) and Dixie Dr. Call for an appointment or consultation (937-286-3127) or send an e-mail to wells73@aol.com and we'll give you detailed directions.

Q: Why is it a “private” studio? Are you really a legitimate Tattoo Artist?

A: Absolutely nothing secret going on here. My studio is Health Dept. Certified, properly Zoned, etc. I have 15 years pro tattoo experience and am certified by Red Cross and other entities in all of the proper procedures concerning Bloodborne Pathogens, Disease and Infectious Control, etc. I am in a “private” studio now because I feel that I owe it to my clients to take their experience to the next level.

Q: Now that you're in a custom, appointment only studio, you probably only want to do big stuff and stuff that'll get printed in magazines.

A: Actually, you'd be surprised at what can get printed in a magazine. I'm not about that at all. I love that I get my stuff in mags and love that I've won trophies and all that, but I'm about doing an awesome tattoo that the person wearing it will love. I will gladly do simple tattoos. I actually quite enjoy doing script lettering and kanjis never bothered me either. Yes, I'm all custom but custom doesn't mean it's too big and it doesn't mean you can't afford it. I love big stuff but I'll gladly do little stuff and it will be awesome little stuff.

Q: Do you charge for the consultation and art preparation?

A: No, the consultation is free and the cost of art preparation is included in the price of your tattoo. You will be expected to leave a small deposit at the time of your consultation to hold your appointment date. This fee will be subtracted from the cost of your tattoo.

Q: What if I'm from out of town and can't make it in for a consultation prior to my actual appointment?

A: We will work with out of towners and people with tight schedules via e-mail or phone and will accept deposits via Paypal or a mailed money order. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE AN APPOINTMENT DATE WITHOUT A DEPOSIT unless you are already a regular client with a good track record of making regular appointments.

Q: Are your really a Reverend and a Doctor?!

Yes. I am a legally ordained Reverend and have performed numerous weddings. I do not subscribe to any one belief system and do not consider myself to religious. I know, it’s confusing but it’s legal and lawful so let’s move on. Yes, I have received the title and degree of “Dr. of Metaphysics” from the Universal Life Church. That doesn’t mean I’m an M.D. or a PhD or any of that and I’m not practicing medicine. It just means I know some stuff and I can legally put “Dr.” before my name.

Thanks, Rev. Dr. Chad Wells
